Finishes
We have the capability to finish your sheet metal parts in a way that makes them functional and aesthetically appealing. We also have finishing services that brand, beautify and deliver improved protection to the surface of your parts. Explore our finishing solutions for sheet metal parts below:
Basic Finishes
The standard finish is the default finish for any part. Here, minimal processing is done on your sheet metal parts.
Bead Blasting
Bead blasting delivers a satin surface finish or uniform matte finish on parts, removing all tool marks. Bead blasting can also impart textures on your part, and prepare the surface for further finish.
Painting
Painting is one of the most versatile means of creating cosmetic appeal and surface appearance. At Firstmold, we can achieve matte finishes, satin finishes, high-gloss and textured finishes on the surface of your part using only the finest PPG automotive-grade polyurethanes.
Laser engraving
Laser engraving can add details, logos, and texts to sheet metals that will endure the rigors of its everyday use. It is particularly suitable for marking part numbers on extruded parts.
Anodizing
Anodizing is used to increase corrosion-resistance, scratch-resistance and durability in mechanical parts. It is versatile and can be applied directly to a part, or used after bead blasting, brushing or bright dipping to achieve matte or glossy finishes as required. Firstmold offers Chemical film, type I, type II and type III anodizing sheet metal parts. Anodizing is also an ideal surface treatment for painting and priming.
Silk-screen printing
Firstmold can create logos, text, symbols and more on sheet metal parts with silk-screening. Silk screening is simple and affordable.
Powder coating
Powder coating delivers strong fatigue and wear resistance, and is compatible with virtually every metal material. It can be used as an alternative to anodizing finishes.
Metal Plating
Firstmold offers silver and gold plating to improve durability, weldability, corrosion resistance and tarnish resistance of all your sheet metal fabrications.

Additional Resources & FAQs
1.What is sheet metal fabrication?
Sheet metal fabrication involves the series of techniques used to process sheet metal materials (metal sheets with less than 0.25” thickness) into a number of simple or complex material shapes that can serve prototype or direct end-use purposes.
2.How does sheet metal Work?
The injection molding process requires a molding machine, a chosen set of plastic materials (resins), and the mold tool. During injection molding, the plastic material is heated till it becomes molten. The molten plastic is then injected into the mold tool under high pressure, where it is held to fill the mold cavity. It is then left to cool before ejecting the solidified part.
3.Why should I use sheet metal fabrication?
There are numerous benefits of sheet metal fabrication, however, the low cost-per-part produced, relatively easier fabrication, complex geometry and speed are some of the many reasons to choose sheet metal parts.
4.How quickly can you produce parts using sheet metal fabrication?
We can prototype rapid sheet metal parts in as fast as 3 days. We can also manufacture end-use parts within 7 days depending on the volumes and geometric complexities.
