Si possono suddividere grossolanamente in connessioni staccabili, connessioni semi-staccabili e connessioni non staccabili. Questa classificazione non \u00e8 molto precisa: alcuni metodi di connessione possono passare da un tipo all'altro con la modifica dei parametri strutturali. Rispetto ai due tipi precedenti, l'aspetto estetico \u00e8 molto meno danneggiato. Deve essere progettato in base alla situazione reale. Ad esempio, il tappo di bottiglia qui sotto ha quattro snap fit interni uniformemente divisi invece di un cerchio completo. Il motivo per cui non \u00e8 stato progettato un cerchio completo \u00e8 probabilmente la facilit\u00e0 di assemblaggio e la sensazione al tatto.
