En general, los pl\u00e1sticos son s\u00f3lidos o elast\u00f3meros a temperatura ambiente. Para procesarlos y moldearlos, normalmente hay que calentarlos hasta que adquieran un estado viscoso y fluido, y despu\u00e9s procesarlos para darles la forma deseada. Este proceso crea ciertas diferencias entre los dos tipos. Hoy hablaremos en detalle de las diferencias entre los termopl\u00e1sticos y los pl\u00e1sticos termoestables.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-basics-of-thermoplastics-and-thermosetting-plastics\">Fundamentos de los pl\u00e1sticos termopl\u00e1sticos y termoestables<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-thermoplastics\">Termopl\u00e1sticos<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Los termopl\u00e1sticos son una clase de pl\u00e1sticos que pueden moldearse a una temperatura determinada, solidificarse al enfriarse y repetir este proceso varias veces. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Son muy utilizados y consisten principalmente en resinas termopl\u00e1sticas mezcladas con diversos aditivos. A determinadas temperaturas, estos pl\u00e1sticos pueden ablandarse o fundirse en cualquier forma y conservar esa forma al enfriarse. Este estado puede alcanzarse repetidamente, y este proceso s\u00f3lo implica cambios f\u00edsicos. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Algunos ejemplos de termopl\u00e1sticos son el nailon (Nylon), el polietileno (PE), el polipropileno (PP), el cloruro de polivinilo (PVC), el acrilonitrilo-butadieno-estireno (ABS), el poliestireno (PS), el polioximetileno (POM), el policarbonato (PC), el poliuretano (PU) y el politetrafluoroetileno (Teflon, PTFE).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-thermosetting-plastics\">Pl\u00e1sticos termoestables<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Los pl\u00e1sticos termoestables se ablandan y fluyen al calentarse por primera vez. Cuando se calientan a cierta temperatura, sufren una reacci\u00f3n qu\u00edmica conocida como reticulaci\u00f3n, que hace que se endurezcan de forma irreversible. Una vez fraguados, no pueden reblandecerse por recalentamiento. Esta caracter\u00edstica se aprovecha en los procesos de moldeo: durante el primer calentamiento, el pl\u00e1stico fluye y llena la cavidad del molde bajo presi\u00f3n, despu\u00e9s se endurece hasta alcanzar una forma y un tama\u00f1o fijos. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Los pl\u00e1sticos termoestables se endurecen mediante una reacci\u00f3n qu\u00edmica al calentarlos, a\u00f1adir presi\u00f3n o introducir un endurecedor, lo que cambia su estructura qu\u00edmica, haci\u00e9ndolos duros e insolubles en disolventes, y no se reblandecen al recalentarlos. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Algunos ejemplos de pl\u00e1sticos termoendurecibles son los pl\u00e1sticos fen\u00f3licos, de urea, de melamina formaldeh\u00eddo, epox\u00eddicos, de poli\u00e9ster insaturado y de silicona.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sus aplicaciones comunes incluyen:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Pl\u00e1sticos fen\u00f3licos (utilizados para los mangos de las ollas)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Formaldeh\u00eddo de melamina (utilizado para laminados pl\u00e1sticos)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Resinas epoxi (utilizadas para adhesivos)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Poli\u00e9steres insaturados (utilizados para los cascos de los barcos)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00c9steres vin\u00edlicos (utilizados para carrocer\u00edas de autom\u00f3viles)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Poliuretano (utilizado para suelas de zapatos y espumas)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-differences-between-thermoplastics-and-thermosetting-plastics\">Diferencias entre termopl\u00e1sticos y termoestables<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-1-molecular-structure\">1. Estructura molecular<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La diferencia m\u00e1s notable entre los termopl\u00e1sticos y los pl\u00e1sticos termoestables es que los termopl\u00e1sticos pueden recalentarse y ablandarse tras el curado. Por el contrario, los pl\u00e1sticos termoestables no pueden ablandarse mediante recalentamiento una vez moldeados; se descompondr\u00e1n a altas temperaturas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Termopl\u00e1sticos:<\/strong> Su estructura molecular es lineal y suelen carecer de grupos reactivos. No sufren reticulaci\u00f3n al calentarse, lo que permite que las cadenas moleculares se deslicen libremente, por lo que se funden al calentarse y se disuelven en algunos disolventes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Pl\u00e1sticos termoestables:<\/strong> Antes del moldeo, tienen una estructura de cadena similar a los termopl\u00e1sticos. Durante el moldeo, sufren una polimerizaci\u00f3n t\u00e9rmica o qu\u00edmica para formar una estructura reticulada. Una vez completada esta reacci\u00f3n, las mol\u00e9culas del pol\u00edmero forman una red tridimensional que impide el deslizamiento de las cadenas moleculares, dando como resultado un s\u00f3lido insoluble que no se funde.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-2-melting-point\">2. Punto de fusi\u00f3n<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Los pl\u00e1sticos termoestables tienen un punto de fusi\u00f3n superior a su temperatura de degradaci\u00f3n. Se degradan antes de fundirse al recalentarse tras el curado, por lo que no son reciclables. Los termopl\u00e1sticos, sin embargo, tienen un punto de fusi\u00f3n m\u00e1s bajo, y existe un rango entre su punto de fusi\u00f3n y la temperatura de descomposici\u00f3n t\u00e9rmica en el que pueden procesarse de diversas formas, como el moldeo por inyecci\u00f3n, el moldeo por soplado, la extrusi\u00f3n y el soplado de pel\u00edculas. Puede volver a fundirse varias veces, lo que suele permitir hasta siete ciclos de reciclado antes de que se degrade su rendimiento.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-3-corrosion-resistance\">3. Sin embargo, los termopl\u00e1sticos son m\u00e1s resistentes a la corrosi\u00f3n qu\u00edmica que los termoestables.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-4-durability\">4. Durabilidad<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">En la fabricaci\u00f3n de pl\u00e1sticos t\u00e9cnicos para autom\u00f3viles o electrodom\u00e9sticos, la resistencia al calor y la durabilidad son cruciales. Por lo general, los materiales termoestables son m\u00e1s duraderos que sus hom\u00f3logos. Estos pol\u00edmeros suelen ser m\u00e1s ligeros y tienen una fuerza, dureza y resistencia al impacto excelentes. Pueden reforzarse a\u00fan m\u00e1s con materiales como la fibra de vidrio y la fibra de carbono. T\u00e9cnicas de procesamiento<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Pl\u00e1sticos termoestables:<\/strong> Se procesan en su forma l\u00edquida utilizando m\u00e9todos como el moldeo por transferencia de resina (RTM) y el moldeo por inyecci\u00f3n de reacci\u00f3n (RIM). El proceso de curado incluye inhibidores, endurecedores, plastificantes o rellenos. La elecci\u00f3n del refuerzo depende del resultado deseado.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Termopl\u00e1sticos:<\/strong> Pueden procesarse mediante diversos m\u00e9todos, como el moldeo por inyecci\u00f3n, la extrusi\u00f3n, el conformado al vac\u00edo y el termoformado.
